Shandong Freda Biotechnology Co., Ltd.

Shandong Freda Biotechnology was set up in 2008 within Lushang Freda Pharmaceutical, itself founded in 1993 and a wholly owned subsidiary of the listed Lushang Development since 2018. Its production base occupies 218 mu, about 14.5 hectares, in the Linshu Economic Development Zone at No. 789 West Coastal Street, Linshu, Linyi, Shandong. Sales are run from an office in the Jinan high-tech zone.

The plant is a microbial fermentation operation moving towards synthetic biology raw materials. On the food side it makes the preservatives natamycin and nisin, epsilon-polylysine and its hydrochloride, compounded food additives, gamma-aminobutyric acid, medicinal and edible plant extracts and solid seasonings. Pullulan is produced on the same fermentation base. Cosmetic ingredients include ectoin, sodium polyglutamate, hydroxypropyl tetrahydropyrantriol, fermentation filtrates, Centella asiatica extract, 3-O-ethyl ascorbic acid and tranexamic acid, with recombinant collagen under development.

Freda has been designated a Shandong provincial engineering research centre for biological preservatives and a provincial engineering technology research centre for biological humectants, and it holds a provincial enterprise technology centre, a postdoctoral innovation practice base and gazelle enterprise status. Certification covers ISO9001, ISO22000, FDA registration, BRC, kosher, halal and COSMOS.
