Psyllium Husk
Psyllium Husk is the milled seed coat of Plantago ovata, a small annual herb cultivated mainly in the Gujarat region of India. The husk consists of roughly 70 percent soluble arabinoxylan fibre that hydrates into a clear, highly viscous gel.
The gel-forming capacity is the basis of psyllium's laxative effect, its cholesterol-lowering claim, and its role as a gluten-free dough binder.
We source bulk Psyllium Husk from top China manufacturers for our partners. The manufacturer is in Shaanxi. A smaller requirement can ship in a combined container with other ingredients.

Common Markets Grades
There are three primary purity grades of psyllium husk, each defined by minimum husk content and Swell Volume measured in millilitres per gram.
Industrial 85 percent purity is the entry grade for animal feed and lower-cost supplements, with Swell Volume around 40 mL/g.
Pharmaceutical 95 percent purity is the standard grade for over-the-counter bulk laxatives and food fortification, with Swell Volume of 50 mL/g and meeting USP monograph specifications.
Premium 99 percent purity is reserved for clinical-trial material and high-end supplements, with Swell Volume of 70 mL/g or higher.
Each purity comes as whole husk, coarse powder (40 mesh), or fine powder (80 to 100 mesh) depending on the application.

How We Help Source Psyllium Husk
Direct Factory Sourcing
We run the whole process: selecting the manufacturer from the top Chinese food ingredient producers, negotiating the price, verifying quality, and coordinating the logistics. You deal with us instead of with several factories at once.
Original Packaging and Documents from the Manufacturer
The manufacturer sends your Psyllium Husk out of its own factory in the original packing, through to your destination port. The COA, COO, MSDS, TDS and any certifications reach you from the manufacturer as well.
Free Samples and Lead Time
We send 100 to 500 g free for your own laboratory to test and you cover only the courier, usually within 2 to 3 working days. ETD is usually within 7 to 15 days once the order is confirmed, and we check that date against the factory's own manufacturing schedule before we give it to you.
Combined Shipment
We can load Psyllium Husk together with other ingredients such as Citrus Fibre, Xylo-oligosaccharide and Inulin into one 20' FCL. If your quantity is small, we can also ship LCL.
Regulatory Status
Psyllium husk holds long-standing regulatory recognition.
The U.S. FDA authorised the health claim soluble fibre from psyllium husk reduces the risk of coronary heart disease in 1998 under 21 CFR 101.81, requiring 7 g of psyllium soluble fibre per day.
EFSA approved the claim psyllium husk contributes to the maintenance of normal blood cholesterol concentrations in 2012, with a daily intake of 6 g.
USP, BP, and Ph. Eur. monographs cover identity, purity, and Swell Volume. The substance is GRAS for food use under multiple notifications.
Halal, Kosher, organic, and non-GMO certifications are routinely available. Pesticide residue testing follows EU MRL and USP General Chapter 561 limits.
Manufacturing Process
Psyllium is grown as a winter crop in Gujarat, Rajasthan, and parts of Pakistan. India supplies more than 80 percent of the global crop.
The plant is harvested by hand or by small combine when the seed capsules turn pale yellow. Threshed seed contains roughly 25 percent husk by weight.
Mechanical decortication separates the husk from the inner endosperm using sequential roller mills and aspirators. The husk fraction is then sieved, ground, and air-classified to the required mesh size and purity.
The endosperm by-product is sold as a protein-rich feed ingredient. Higher purities require additional sieving stages and electrostatic separation to remove residual fines and broken seed.
Quality control covers Swell Volume, microbial load, heavy metals, pesticide residues, and aflatoxin given the Indian-monsoon storage risk.
