HS NUTRA is the export name of Hengjie Biological (Zhejiang) Co., Ltd., formerly Jiaxing Hengjie Biopharmaceutical Co., Ltd. The business began in 1997 as the Jiaxing Jiasi Biochemical Factory; the present company was founded in 2001 as a Sino-American joint venture and took its current name in 2024. The head office is in Xinfeng Town, Nanhu District, Jiaxing, Zhejiang, and it runs plants at Jiaxing, in Fujian and in Hunan, with a fourth site overseas under construction. Branches operate in the United States and in Hangzhou.

Chondroitin sulphate sodium is the core product, drawn from bovine and porcine cartilage and from shark cartilage. The range also covers glucosamine hydrochloride and the potassium and sodium sulphate salts, made from shrimp and crab shell; collagen from fish skin and animal cartilage; shark cartilage powder, which is milled under freezing; hyaluronic acid; methylsulfonylmethane; and an eggshell membrane line. Branded developments include minipote low molecular weight chondroitin sulphate sodium and the ELASEM Flex and ELASEM Bio eggshell membrane materials. Product standards follow the Chinese, United States, European and Japanese pharmacopoeias.

The Jiaxing site covers 20,000 square metres with more than 100 staff and a class 100,000 clean production workshop. The company passed ISO 9001 and ISO 22000 in 2009, obtained a Zhejiang drug production licence for chondroitin sulphate sodium as an active ingredient in 2010, registered United States FDA drug master file 26474 and gained an NSF GMP certificate in 2012, and added MSC chain of custody certification in 2013. It was recognised as a national high-technology enterprise in 2018 and as a national specialised and innovative enterprise in 2024, the year a new research building was completed.
