Inner Mongolia Yuhangren Bioengineering Technology Co., Ltd.

Inner Mongolia Yuhangren Bioengineering Technology Co., Ltd. is the wholly owned subsidiary of Inner Mongolia Yuhangren High-tech Industry Co., Ltd., founded in 1995 and tracing its origin to an Inner Mongolia patented technology experimental plant set up in 1988. The works are on Chengzhang Road in the Shengle economic park at Horinger County, Hohhot.

The company works on one crop. It covers seabuckthorn from seedling propagation and ecological planting through research, processing and sales, applying supercritical fluid extraction, bioengineering and membrane separation. Manufacturing is organised into departments for beverages, fruit juice, plant extraction, supercritical extraction, soft capsules, seabuckthorn fruit powder and seabuckthorn oil separation. The range includes seabuckthorn seed oil, berry oil, flavone powder, juice powder, concrete, puree, juice concentrate, oil capsules and tea, with organic grades of juice, puree, pulp oil, seed oil and flavone.

Industrialisation of 500 litre supercritical carbon dioxide extraction was a national Eighth Five-Year Plan project completed in 1995, and the resulting seabuckthorn oil process took a first prize in the Inner Mongolia science and technology progress awards in 1999. Products were among the first batch of national health food approvals in 1997. A seabuckthorn engineering technology research centre, the first specialist institute of its kind in China, was set up in 2005, and a Japanese subsidiary followed in 2006. The company took on the drafting of national seabuckthorn standards in 2008 and has since produced 35 of them, and it houses the National Seabuckthorn Development Secretariat.

It obtained United States FDA certification in 2007 and was recognised as a national high-technology enterprise in 2013. Certification since 2005 covers EU organic, USDA Organic, Japanese JAS organic, HACCP, ISO 9001 and ISO 22000, with halal certification added more recently. Product has been exported for close to twenty years.
