Ningbo Herb Pharma Corp.

Ningbo Herb Pharma Corp. was established in 1956 and was restructured from the state-owned Ningbo Herb factory, a traditional Chinese medicine enterprise. It still owns the "Wu He" traditional medicine trademark. The company listed in 2015 as part of the national 12th Five-Year plan support for the life and health industry, and holds state-level high-tech enterprise status.

Its work covers traditional Chinese medicine APIs, plant extracts, functional food and health care products. Turmeric is the main line, and the company is among the larger curcumin producers in China. Two manufacturing sites are in operation with four extraction lines, two of them countercurrent extraction lines. The head office and main plant are at 525 Yuanbaoshan Road, Beilun District, Ningbo, Zhejiang Province. A wholly owned subsidiary, Zhejiang Kangjin Biotechnology Co., Ltd., operates in Kaihua County, Zhejiang, on about 40 acres with more than 5,000 square metres of buildings.

Following five years of work with the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Zhejiang University, the company developed turmeric seedlings suited to Chinese cultivation and now has a turmeric planting base of 8,000 mu. Quality control uses HPLC, GC, AAS, UV and TLC to check active content, solvent residues, heavy metals, pesticide residues and microbiology. A US branch, BGN, is based in Carson, California and holds inventory for North and South American customers.
