Angelica Dahurica Oil is the steam-distilled essential oil of the dried root of Angelica dahurica (Fisch. ex Hoffm.) Benth. et Hook. f. ex Franch. et Sav., known in traditional Chinese medicine as Bai Zhi.
The oil is a pale yellow to amber liquid with a warm, spicy, slightly musky aroma. Its character carries both volatile monoterpenes (α-pinene, sabinene, myrcene) and trace co-distilled furanocoumarins (imperatorin, isoimperatorin, byakangelicin) that define the species pharmacologically.

The substance does not have a U.S. FDA GRAS listing for general food use, and is therefore not typically deployed in food applications outside traditional Chinese culinary preparations within China. Kosher and Halal certifications exist on request.
Manufacturing Process
Three to four-year-old roots are dug in autumn after the aerial parts wither, washed, and dried in shade to preserve the volatile fraction.
Dried roots are coarsely milled and rehydrated before loading into stainless-steel stills.
Steam distillation runs 8 to 14 hours at atmospheric pressure. Yields are low, typically 0.3 to 0.8 percent of dry root weight, because the bulk of the bioactive load sits in the non-volatile coumarin fraction.
The crude oil is decanted, dried over anhydrous sodium sulphate, and filtered.
CO₂-extracted grades are produced separately at 200 to 300 bar to capture furanocoumarins alongside the volatile profile. Each lot is screened by HPLC for imperatorin and isoimperatorin to confirm botanical identity.
