Premium Spearmint Oil
Premium Spearmint Oil is the steam-distilled essential oil of Mentha spicata, selected for its high L-carvone content of 60 percent or above.
The oil is a pale yellow to greenish liquid with a sweet, warm, distinctly minty aroma that lacks the cooling menthol bite of peppermint. (R)-(-)-carvone is the dominant carbonyl responsible for the characteristic spearmint odour.
We source bulk Premium Spearmint Oil from top China manufacturers for our partners. The manufacturer is in Guangdong. A smaller requirement can ship in a combined container with other ingredients.
Please send the grade you need, the volume and your destination port, and we will come back with a solution and a price.

Common Markets Grades
Premium Spearmint Oil is graded by carvone assay and varietal source.
Native Spearmint (Scotch Spearmint, Mentha cardiaca) is grown primarily in Michigan, Indiana, and Wisconsin and yields oil with a softer, fruitier top note.
Native Spearmint cultivars typically deliver 55 to 65 percent carvone.
Common Spearmint (Mentha spicata) from the Pacific Northwest and Far Western states reaches 65 to 75 percent carvone and is the standard grade for chewing gum.
Chinese and Indian spearmint oils cover the value tier and are widely used for oral-care flavouring. Premium grades are rectified under vacuum to remove dimethyl sulphide, dihydrocarvone, and other off-notes, then standardised to a fixed carvone target.
Organic-certified and Kosher-certified material is produced for natural-positioned brands.

How We Help Source Premium Spearmint Oil
Direct Factory Sourcing
We run the whole process: selecting the manufacturer from the top Chinese food ingredient producers, negotiating the price, verifying quality, and coordinating the logistics. You deal with us instead of with several factories at once.
Original Packaging and Documents from the Manufacturer
The manufacturer sends your Premium Spearmint Oil out of its own factory in the original packing, through to your destination port. The COA, COO, MSDS, TDS and any certifications reach you from the manufacturer as well.
Free Samples and Lead Time
We send 100 to 500 g free for your own laboratory to test and you cover only the courier, usually within 2 to 3 working days. ETD is usually within 7 to 15 days once the order is confirmed, and we check that date against the factory's own manufacturing schedule before we give it to you.
Combined Shipment
We can load Premium Spearmint Oil together with other ingredients such as Peppermint Oil, Ginger Essential Oil and Star Anise Oil into one 20' FCL. If your quantity is small, we can also ship LCL.
Regulatory Status
Premium Spearmint Oil is recognised as a natural flavouring across all major regulatory frameworks.
In the United States it appears on the FDA GRAS list under 21 CFR 182.20.
The EU permits it as a natural flavouring substance under Regulation (EC) 1334/2008, FL number 14.018. JECFA has reviewed both spearmint oil and its principal constituent carvone and assigned acceptable group ADIs to the broader carvone class.
Monographs exist in USP-NF and the European Pharmacopoeia. IFRA does not currently impose restrictive limits on spearmint oil in fragrance applications, although standard skin-sensitization screening is recommended.
Kosher, Halal, NOP organic, and EU organic certifications are routinely available.
Manufacturing Process
Spearmint is mowed at full bloom, when carvone biosynthesis peaks and limonene levels drop.
The harvested herb is field-dried for one to two days, then loaded into mobile stills and distilled with low-pressure steam for roughly two hours.
The crude oil is decanted from the floral water, dried over anhydrous sodium sulphate, and stored cold under nitrogen to prevent oxidation of carvone to carvone oxide.
Premium grades are then rectified in short-path or wiped-film evaporators to remove sulphur volatiles inherited from the soil sulphur cycle. Carvone is verified by GC-FID, and chiral GC confirms the (R)-(-) enantiomer dominates above 98 percent ee, which is the natural signature.
The U.S. accounts for roughly half of world supply, with India, China, and Egypt contributing the balance.
