Sulfurol Acetate
Sulfurol Acetate is the acetylated derivative of sulfurol, designed as a high-impact meat top-note for savory flavour systems.
The chemical name is 2-(4-methylthiazol-5-yl)ethyl acetate (acetylated 4-methyl-5-(beta-hydroxyethyl)thiazole). Formula C₈H₁₁NO₂S, molar mass 185.24 g/mol. The material is a pale yellow oily liquid with a roasted, sulfury, meaty character.
We source bulk Sulfurol Acetate from top China manufacturers for our partners. The manufacturer is in Shandong. A smaller requirement can ship in a combined container with other ingredients.

Common Markets Grades
Sulfurol Acetate is a flavour-grade liquid.
The typical commercial specification is 97 to 98 percent minimum by GC, with residual sulfurol and free acetic acid kept under defined limits.
The product is packed under nitrogen in lined steel drums or HDPE pails. Colour may deepen on storage from pale yellow to amber without performance loss.
Cold, dark storage below 15 degrees C is recommended. Shelf life is 18 to 24 months from production.

How We Help Source Sulfurol Acetate
Direct Factory Sourcing
We run the whole process: selecting the manufacturer from the top Chinese food ingredient producers, negotiating the price, verifying quality, and coordinating the logistics. You deal with us instead of with several factories at once.
Original Packaging and Documents from the Manufacturer
The manufacturer sends your Sulfurol Acetate out of its own factory in the original packing, through to your destination port. The COA, COO, MSDS, TDS and any certifications reach you from the manufacturer as well.
Free Samples and Lead Time
We send 100 to 500 g free for your own laboratory to test and you cover only the courier, usually within 2 to 3 working days. ETD is usually within 7 to 15 days once the order is confirmed, and we check that date against the factory's own manufacturing schedule before we give it to you.
Combined Shipment
We can load Sulfurol Acetate together with other ingredients such as Capsicum Oleoresin, Ethyl Maltol and White Pepper into one 20' FCL. If your quantity is small, we can also ship LCL.
Regulatory Status
Sulfurol Acetate is approved as a synthetic flavouring substance in major markets.
It carries FEMA GRAS number 3205 and a corresponding FLAVIS entry as an acetate ester of the parent thiazole. The European Union has the substance on the Union list of authorised flavourings.
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration recognises it as a synthetic flavouring substance under 21 CFR 172.515. JECFA has reviewed the sulphur-containing heterocyclic group and placed the compound in a class of no safety concern at current intake levels.
Kosher and Halal certification is routinely available.
Manufacturing Process
Sulfurol Acetate is produced by direct acetylation of sulfurol.
The hydroxyl group of 4-methyl-5-(beta-hydroxyethyl)thiazole is reacted with acetic anhydride, typically with a catalytic amount of an acid such as sulphuric acid or pyridine as base. The crude product is washed to remove acid and acetic acid byproduct, then distilled under reduced pressure.
Alternative routes use acetyl chloride with a tertiary amine base. The cleaner profile and easier byproduct removal of the anhydride route make it the standard industrial path.
Purification by short-path distillation is required since the thiazole ring system is heat sensitive.
