Chenguang Biotech Group extracts, separates, purifies and applies plant active ingredients, and is quoted under stock code 300138. Its output covers seven series and several hundred products: natural pigments, natural spice extracts and essential oils, natural sweeteners, nutritional and medicinal extracts, health foods, oils and proteins, and animal nutrition. Paprika oleoresin and capsanthin, lutein, milk thistle extract and Sichuan pepper extract are the lines where it holds a significant world position, alongside curcumin, lycopene, black pepper oleoresin, grape seed extract and rosemary extract.

The group has more than thirty subsidiaries and branches, in China and also in India, Zambia and Myanmar, which places it close to the growing regions for capsicum, marigold and other pigment crops.

Its research infrastructure includes a national enterprise technology centre, a national and local joint engineering research centre, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs key laboratory for spice processing, a post-doctoral research workstation and a quality control and technical evaluation laboratory for natural pigment products. It holds 489 national patents, 43 of them overseas, three national key new products and 46 provincial and ministerial scientific achievements. Two projects won second prize in the National Science and Technology Progress Award, on paprika high-value extraction and separation in 2014 and on tomato processing industrialisation in 2017.

Certification covers BRCGS, ISO 9001, ISO 22000, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, Kosher, Halal, FAMI-QS and SEDEX, with FDA product registration.
