Guangxi Jinyuan Biochemical Industry Co., Ltd.

Guangxi Jinyuan Biochemical Industry Co., Ltd. is part of Guangxi Jinyuan Biochemical Group Co., Ltd., which was established in June 2005 and has its works in the Chang'an industrial concentration zone at Guiping, a county-level city in Guigang prefecture, Guangxi. The group has nine subsidiaries and combined registered capital of 300 million yuan, and is recognised as a Guangxi high-tech enterprise and an undertaking unit of the national Spark Programme.

Production starts from fermentation of cassava and other starch crops into ethanol and butanol, and the acetyl chemistry that follows. Food-related output includes sorbic acid and potassium sorbate, dehydroacetic acid and sodium dehydroacetate, glacial acetic acid, edible alcohol and anhydrous alcohol, with ethyl acetate, ethyl acetoacetate, acetic anhydride and acetylacetone sold into industrial markets. Other lines cover veterinary drug ingredients and feed additives, plastic processing aids, fine and basic chemical intermediates and biodegradable materials. Biogas, bio-organic fertiliser and protein feed are recovered as by-products.

The plant sits beside the Yu River and the group operates its own dangerous goods wharf, river fleet and road haulage, along with a container and bulk terminal at Xinlong with a 3,000 tonne berth. The company holds its own export licence. It runs a bio-based chemicals engineering research centre jointly with Guangxi University and an academician workstation on biomanufacturing, and works with the Shanghai Institute of Organic Chemistry and Beijing University of Chemical Technology.
