Qingdao Jiutai Biotechnology makes organic acid salts for food preservation and flavour. Its main lines are lactic acid and sodium lactate solution, powdered lactic acid and powdered sodium lactate, calcium lactate and potassium lactate, succinic acid and disodium succinate, sodium dehydroacetate, sodium propionate, calcium propionate and sodium benzoate. Meat processors are a core market, where sodium lactate extends shelf life and disodium succinate carries a scallop-like savoury note.

The company was founded in 1997 as Qingdao Fengtai Chemical and took its present name later. It completed a new site in 2014 at Jiangshan town, Laixi, in the Qingdao area, covering more than 30,000 square metres two kilometres from national road 204 and close to two expressways. It runs its own laboratory and sells direct rather than through agents.
