Shandong Jianyuan Bioengineering Co., Ltd.

Shandong Jianyuan Bioengineering processes pulses at 100 Shengtai Road in the national economic development zone of Zhaoyuan, Shandong, a city known both for gold mining and as the original home of Longkou vermicelli. The site covers 300,000 square metres, registered capital is CNY 130 million and total assets are CNY 300 million. Exports reach 15 countries and regions.

The business began in 2003 as Shandong Jianyuan Food Co., Ltd, a joint venture that installed vermicelli lines built to export plant standards. In 2008 it added food-grade pea protein, dietary fibre and starch lines, which the company describes as the first use of biological fermentation processing to make pea protein anywhere. Shandong Jianyuan Health Industry was formed in 2014 and became the parent of a group in 2015 covering the bioengineering, agricultural and investment arms. The present name was adopted in 2016 in preparation for a listing on the Chinese over-the-counter market.

Current output centres on pea protein isolate, pea dietary fibre and pea starch, with vermicelli made from the starch fraction. The group covers cultivation, research, processing, extraction and trade, and holds its own import and export rights.
