Mono Sodium Glycinecarbonate

Mono Sodium Glycine Carbonate is a co-crystalline complex of glycine and sodium bicarbonate developed as a lower sodium alternative to ordinary baking soda.

The compound, sometimes abbreviated mono-SGC, delivers leavening carbon dioxide on heating while supplying roughly one third less sodium per equivalent of gas produced.

We source bulk Mono Sodium Glycinecarbonate from top China manufacturers for our partners. The manufacturer is in Hebei. A smaller requirement can ship in a combined container with other ingredients.

Please send the grade you need, the volume and your destination port, and we will come back with a solution and a price.

Common Markets Grades

Mono Sodium Glycine Carbonate trades in a single food grade, a fine white free flowing powder.

The principal commercial specification controls glycine to bicarbonate ratio, residual moisture, particle size, and carbon dioxide release on heating. Material ships in moisture proof multi wall bags or in lined intermediate bulk containers.

Custom particle size distributions exist for direct dry blending or for incorporation into encapsulated leavening systems.

Applications

  • Reduced sodium leavening agent in bread, cake, and muffin formulations
  • Component of low sodium baking powder blends
  • Self rising flour intended for health positioned bakery products
  • Pancake and waffle mixes targeted at the reduced sodium category
  • Cookie and biscuit formulations where flavour must remain clean
  • Effervescent supplement tablets where excess sodium is undesirable
  • Pharmaceutical effervescent dosage forms paired with citric or tartaric acid
  • Pet treat formulations with reduced sodium claims
  • Tortilla and flatbread mixes for the health food channel
  • Bakery premix systems for hospital and senior care food service

How We Help Source Mono Sodium Glycinecarbonate

  • Direct Factory Sourcing

We run the whole process: selecting the manufacturer from the top Chinese food ingredient producers, negotiating the price, verifying quality, and coordinating the logistics. You deal with us instead of with several factories at once.

  • Original Packaging and Documents from the Manufacturer

The manufacturer sends your Mono Sodium Glycinecarbonate out of its own factory in the original packing, through to your destination port. The COA, COO, MSDS, TDS and any certifications reach you from the manufacturer as well.

  • Free Samples and Lead Time

We send 100 to 500 g free for your own laboratory to test and you cover only the courier, usually within 2 to 3 working days. ETD is usually within 7 to 15 days once the order is confirmed, and we check that date against the factory's own manufacturing schedule before we give it to you.

  • Combined Shipment

We can load Mono Sodium Glycinecarbonate together with other ingredients such as Sodium Acid Pyrophosphate, Monocalcium Phosphate and Diammonium Phosphate into one 20' FCL. If your quantity is small, we can also ship LCL.

Regulatory Status

The two constituents of Mono Sodium Glycine Carbonate are both well established food ingredients.

Glycine is permitted as a flavour enhancer and processing aid in major regulatory regions. Sodium bicarbonate carries the EU additive number E500(ii) and is recognised as GRAS in the United States.

The co-crystal form is sold under those parent ingredient declarations in many markets. Some jurisdictions require additional specification documentation to recognise the co-crystal as a distinct ingredient.

Sodium reduction claims based on the material follow the relevant national rules on reduced and low sodium labelling.

Manufacturing Process

Mono Sodium Glycine Carbonate is produced by controlled co-crystallisation of glycine and sodium bicarbonate from aqueous solution.

The two starting materials are dissolved together in deionized water at a specific molar ratio and temperature. Crystallisation is induced by cooling and gentle anti solvent addition under conditions that favor the formation of the molecular complex rather than separate phases of glycine and bicarbonate.

The crystals are filtered, washed, and dried at low temperature to preserve the bicarbonate fraction. The dry product is milled and screened to the target particle size, then packed in moisture barrier packaging.
