Tea Concentrate
Tea Concentrate is a liquid tea extract concentrated to high solids by evaporation or membrane filtration, sold as a fluid or semi-fluid for direct dilution into beverage formulations.
Unlike instant tea powder, the concentrate retains a wet matrix and preserves a higher share of volatile aromatics. It is the format of choice for beverage manufacturers running aseptic ready-to-drink production lines.
We source bulk Tea Concentrate from top China manufacturers for our partners, working with several of them. The manufacturers are in Guangdong, Fujian and Hubei. A smaller requirement can ship in a combined container with other ingredients.
Please send the grade you need, the volume and your destination port, and we will come back with a solution and a price.

Common Markets Grades
Tea concentrate is graded by source leaf, solids content, and processing intensity.
Source leaf categories include black, green, oolong, white, and pu-erh. Black tea concentrate dominates ready-to-drink applications; green tea concentrate has grown rapidly with the rise of bottled green tea in North America and Asia.
Solids content ranges from 6 to 40 percent. Low-solids (6 to 12 percent) concentrate is a fresh-brewed extract with minimal further concentration, used in chilled distribution. Medium-solids (15 to 25 percent) is the standard for ambient-distribution aseptic packs. High-solids (30 to 40 percent) supports long supply chains and frozen distribution.
Processing intensity describes the temperature and time history of the concentrate. Cold-concentrated grades (membrane or freeze concentration) preserve fresh-brewed character. Hot-evaporated grades carry more cooked notes and a darker colour.
Single-fold and multi-fold (2X, 4X, 8X) describe the dilution ratio at end use, with single-fold meaning the concentrate is used at the same volume as brewed tea.

How We Help Source Tea Concentrate
Direct Factory Sourcing
We run the whole process: selecting the manufacturer from the top Chinese food ingredient producers, negotiating the price, verifying quality, and coordinating the logistics. You deal with us instead of with several factories at once.
Original Packaging and Documents from the Manufacturer
The manufacturer sends your Tea Concentrate out of its own factory in the original packing, through to your destination port. The COA, COO, MSDS, TDS and any certifications reach you from the manufacturer as well.
Free Samples and Lead Time
We send 100 to 500 g free for your own laboratory to test and you cover only the courier, usually within 2 to 3 working days. ETD is usually within 7 to 15 days once the order is confirmed, and we check that date against the factory's own manufacturing schedule before we give it to you.
Combined Shipment
We can load Tea Concentrate together with other ingredients such as Instant Coffee, Instant Tea and Alkalized Cocoa into one 20' FCL. If your quantity is small, we can also ship LCL.
Regulatory Status
Tea concentrate is governed by general food law in all major markets.
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration covers it under 21 CFR Part 165 for beverages and general food regulations. The European Union applies Regulation 178/2002, Regulation 1169/2011 for labelling, and Regulation 2023/915 for contaminants.
Pesticide MRLs in the source leaf follow EU Regulation 396/2005 with concentration-factor adjustments at the concentrate stage. Heavy metals are monitored on the concentrate.
Caffeine content is typically declared as a quality indicator. Decaffeinated concentrate must meet under-0.4 percent caffeine on a tea solids basis for the decaffeinated claim in most markets.
Halal, Kosher, organic (EU, USDA NOP, JAS), Fairtrade, and Rainforest Alliance certifications are routinely available when source leaf carries the matching certification. Frozen and chilled grades carry cold-chain handling instructions on the label.
Manufacturing Process
Production begins with extraction of the source leaf in counter-current columns or basket extractors. Water at 80 to 95 degrees Celsius extracts the soluble solids over 20 to 60 minutes, depending on leaf type.
Raw extract leaves the extractor at 4 to 8 percent solids. It passes through plate-and-frame or centrifugal clarification to remove fine leaf solids, then through a chilled cream-removal step to manage haze.
The clarified extract is concentrated by one of three methods. Falling-film evaporation under vacuum at 50 to 70 degrees Celsius is the most common and most economical. Reverse osmosis or nanofiltration uses pressure across selective membranes to concentrate without heat. Freeze concentration removes water as ice crystals and preserves the freshest aroma at the highest cost.
Concentrated extract is standardised for solids, polyphenols, and colour, then packaged. Chilled and frozen grades are filled into food-grade pails, drums, or bag-in-box at 5 degrees Celsius or minus 18 degrees Celsius respectively.
Aseptic grades are flash-pasteurised at 95 degrees Celsius and aseptically filled into bag-in-box or stainless totes for ambient distribution with a 9 to 12 month shelf life.
