Yellow Dextrin
Yellow Dextrin is a high-conversion roasted starch product produced by dry-heating starch with a small amount of acid catalyst at temperatures above 150 degrees Celsius.
The higher temperature drives both hydrolysis and significant transglycosidation, building a branched, partly browned dextrin with cold-water solubility above 95 percent and a characteristic golden yellow colour.
It is the standard pyrodextrin grade where high solubility, strong adhesive bond, and a yellow-to-amber appearance are acceptable or desirable.
We source bulk Yellow Dextrin from top China manufacturers for our partners. The manufacturer is in Hebei. A smaller requirement can ship in a combined container with other ingredients.
Please send the grade you need, the volume and your destination port, and we will come back with a solution and a price.

Common Markets Grades
Yellow Dextrin is graded by solubility, colour, and viscosity profile.
Standard adhesive grades carry near-complete cold-water solubility and a Brookfield viscosity in the medium range, suited to envelope, label, and case-sealing glues.
High-viscosity grades give heavier body for gummed-tape and remoistenable adhesive applications.
Low-viscosity, highly converted grades approach the behaviour of British gum and are favored in foundry binders and textile sizing.
Colour is reported on a Gardner or Lovibond scale and varies from light golden to deep amber depending on roast severity.
Applications
- Remoistenable envelope and label adhesives
- Case-sealing and corrugated-board adhesives
- Foundry-core binder for metal casting
- Pyrotechnic binder for fireworks and match heads
- Textile warp sizing on cotton and blends
- Wallpaper paste base
- Paper and board surface sizing
- Briquetting binder for charcoal and coal dust
- Encapsulation matrix in slow-release agrochemicals
- Ceramic body binder in tile manufacture
- Carrier for industrial spray-dried products

How We Help Source Yellow Dextrin
Direct Factory Sourcing
We run the whole process: selecting the manufacturer from the top Chinese food ingredient producers, negotiating the price, verifying quality, and coordinating the logistics. You deal with us instead of with several factories at once.
Original Packaging and Documents from the Manufacturer
The manufacturer sends your Yellow Dextrin out of its own factory in the original packing, through to your destination port. The COA, COO, MSDS, TDS and any certifications reach you from the manufacturer as well.
Free Samples and Lead Time
We send 100 to 500 g free for your own laboratory to test and you cover only the courier, usually within 2 to 3 working days. ETD is usually within 7 to 15 days once the order is confirmed, and we check that date against the factory's own manufacturing schedule before we give it to you.
Combined Shipment
We can load Yellow Dextrin together with other ingredients such as Fructooligosaccharides, Dextrose and Dextrose Monohydrate into one 20' FCL. If your quantity is small, we can also ship LCL.
Regulatory Status
Yellow Dextrin used in food contact applications is covered as a modified starch and does not carry an E number when produced by thermal-acid treatment alone.
The U.S. FDA covers food-grade dextrin under 21 CFR 184.1277 with GRAS status.
Industrial yellow dextrin grades for adhesives, foundry, and pyrotechnic use are sold under technical specifications outside the food-contact framework.
Kosher and Halal certifications exist for food-grade material from qualified suppliers.
Manufacturing Process
Yellow Dextrin is produced by dry-roasting acidified starch at elevated temperature.
Cleaned corn, tapioca, or potato starch is sprayed with dilute hydrochloric acid to a target moisture of 3 to 5 percent and equilibrated.
The acidified starch enters a continuous dextrinizer where it is held at 150 to 200 degrees Celsius for 1 to 4 hours with gentle agitation.
At this temperature transglycosidation outpaces hydrolysis, building branched dextrin chains with new α-1,6 and miscellaneous bonds. Maillard and caramelization chemistry develops the yellow colour.
The product is cooled rapidly, neutralised with ammonia, screened, and packed.
