Beijing Semnl Biotechnology develops, produces and sells bioactive peptides. Its portfolio includes hydrolysed fish and bovine collagen, SemTRI collagen tripeptide made from tilapia skin and scales, SemPep-III type III collagen peptide, SEMFLEX-II undenatured type II collagen, SEMPEP-II hydrolysed type II collagen, PGXR oligopeptide, pea peptide, elastin peptide, oyster extract, eggshell membrane extract and polygonatum sibiricum extract.

The company is headquartered in Beijing and holds high-tech enterprise recognition from both the municipality and the state. Marketing and service centres operate in Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou. Its production base is at the foot of Fenghuang Mountain in Huaibei, Anhui, with highly automated lines rated at 6,500 tonnes of bioactive peptides a year plus 100 tonnes of undenatured type II collagen. The base holds ISO 9001, HACCP, MSC chain of custody, Halal and BRC certification and is registered with the United States and European food authorities.

Research is run through a Bioactive Peptide Health Research Institute set up with the Institute of Process Engineering of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. Semnl has applied for close to a hundred patents and has 56 granted, has led several provincial and ministerial research projects and the drafting of a number of group standards, and has published more than thirty papers. With the School of Public Health at Peking University it carried out a joint efficacy evaluation of bioactive peptides that became the book On Fish Collagen Peptides Nutrition. Raw materials for the elastin and collagen lines come from large-scale Chinese cattle and fish processors under full traceability.
