Hydrolyzed Bovine Collagen

Hydrolysed Bovine Collagen is the enzymatic hydrolysate of collagen extracted from bovine hide split or demineralized bovine bone (ossein). The label term is used interchangeably with bovine collagen peptide in most supplement markets, with the longer name often preferred for cosmetic and clinical positioning.

The product is a free-flowing white to pale-yellow powder, cold-water soluble, and rich in glycine, proline, and hydroxyproline. Average molecular weight runs from below 1 kDa for premium grades up to 10 kDa for cost-driven applications.

We source bulk Hydrolyzed Bovine Collagen from top China manufacturers for our partners. The manufacturer is in Beijing. A smaller requirement can ship in a combined container with other ingredients.

Please send the grade you need, the volume and your destination port, and we will come back with a solution and a price.

Common Markets Grades

Hydrolysed Bovine Collagen is graded by molecular-weight distribution, by raw-material origin, and by the certifications it carries.

Premium ultra-low MW grades below 2 kDa serve clear beauty drinks, cosmetic ampoules, and clinical formats. Standard grades in the 2 to 5 kDa band cover the bulk of supplement, sports, and beauty applications.

Mid-range grades from 5 to 10 kDa serve gummies, bars, and bakery applications where some viscosity is acceptable. Hide-derived material is typically lighter in colour and lower in ash than bone-derived material, with bone ossein offering a complementary mineral and Type I profile.

Common additional claims include grass-fed and pasture-raised positioning, halal and kosher certification, and non-GMO project verification.

How We Help Source Hydrolyzed Bovine Collagen

  • Direct Factory Sourcing

We run the whole process: selecting the manufacturer from the top Chinese food ingredient producers, negotiating the price, verifying quality, and coordinating the logistics. You deal with us instead of with several factories at once.

  • Original Packaging and Documents from the Manufacturer

The manufacturer sends your Hydrolyzed Bovine Collagen out of its own factory in the original packing, through to your destination port. The COA, COO, MSDS, TDS and any certifications reach you from the manufacturer as well.

  • Free Samples and Lead Time

We send 100 to 500 g free for your own laboratory to test and you cover only the courier, usually within 2 to 3 working days. ETD is usually within 7 to 15 days once the order is confirmed, and we check that date against the factory's own manufacturing schedule before we give it to you.

  • Combined Shipment

We can load Hydrolyzed Bovine Collagen together with other ingredients such as Collagen Peptide, Soy Protein Isolate and Fish Collagen Peptide into one 20' FCL. If your quantity is small, we can also ship LCL.

Regulatory Status

Hydrolysed Bovine Collagen is regulated as a food ingredient or supplement protein and does not carry a food-additive number.

In the United States it is generally recognized as safe when produced from edible bovine tissues under good manufacturing practice, and the U.S. Food and Drug Administration permits it in conventional foods and dietary supplements. Cosmetic use is governed by the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act labelling rules.

In the European Union general food law, the Regulation EC 853/2004 hygiene rules for collagen of animal origin, and the BSE control framework that restricts source country and tissue category all cover it.

Halal certification is produced for material from approved slaughter, and kosher certification is produced where the supply chain is segregated. Pharmacopoeial monographs for hydrolysed collagen apply to pharmaceutical-grade material.

Manufacturing Process

Hide-based production starts with cleaned, dehaired hide split conditioned in an alkaline lime bath that swells the fibres and removes non-collagenous proteins.

Bone-based production starts with crushed bone that is demineralized in dilute hydrochloric acid to remove calcium phosphate and yield ossein. Both pathways then meet at a hot-water extraction step that releases gelatin.

Food-grade alkaline or neutral bacterial proteases cleave the gelatin into peptides of the target molecular-weight range. The solution is filtered, decolorised with activated carbon, deionized through ion-exchange resins, ultrafiltered to the specified cut-off, concentrated under vacuum, and spray-dried.

Process validation covers BSE risk management at incoming inspection, hydrolysis kinetics, and final powder microbiology, with batch records linked back to source-country documentation for the raw hides or bones.
