Brother Enterprises Holding was founded in 1991 and is headquartered at No. 1 Xuelin Street in Haining, Zhejiang. It is organised into six divisions covering vitamins, leather chemicals, flavours and fragrances, active pharmaceutical ingredients, catalysts and chromium salts, with a number of wholly owned subsidiaries. Vanillin and ethyl vanillin sit in the flavour and fragrance division.

Production is spread across four bases. The Haining base at Zhouwangmiao town has been in operation since 1991 and makes leather chemicals and vitamin K3. Jiangsu Brother Vitamin at Dafeng in Yancheng was built in 2005 on 330 mu and makes vitamin B1 for pharmaceutical, food and feed use. Jiangxi Brother Pharmaceutical at Pengze County was built from June 2014 on 2,000 mu and produces vitamin B3, vitamin B5, flavours and fragrances, iodinated contrast media, specialty active ingredients and catalysts. Brother CISA at Newcastle in South Africa, about 500 mu, was acquired from Lanxess in 2020 and makes sodium dichromate, chromic acid and chrome tanning salts, extending the group's chromium chain upstream.

Certification across the sites covers ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 22000, ISO 45001, ISO 50001, FAMI-QS, BRC, Halal and Kosher. The Jiangxi operation has been named a national high-tech enterprise and a national green factory, and holds provincial enterprise technology centre and academician workstation status. The company is listed, with investor filings published under stock code 002562, and states that its future focus is animal nutrition and human health.
