Jinan Asia Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd.

Jinan Asia Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. is the core company of the Asia Pharmaceutical group in Jinan, Shandong Province, with offices at Block D, CBD Central Plaza in Lixia District. Choline chloride production began in 1989 and Jinan Asia Pharmaceutical was incorporated as a Sino-US joint venture in 1993. A new plant at Jiyang was built in 2008 and obtained GMP certification.

The company makes food grade choline and betaine derivatives: choline chloride, choline bitartrate, choline dihydrogen citrate, betaine, betaine hydrochloride and DMAE bitartrate. Development of the coated choline bitartrate process was taken up as a national Spark Programme project in 2001, and choline dihydrogen citrate was developed and exported to Europe and North America from 2003. More than 60 percent of output is exported, into infant food, pharmaceutical, supplement and cosmetic markets.

The group comprises seven subsidiaries. Jinan Hualing Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. was formed in 1995 as a joint venture with Mitsubishi Gas Chemical of Japan and makes feed grade choline chloride and betaine hydrochloride, exporting more than 70 percent of its output to Japan, the United States, Australia, Brazil and Taiwan. HL-Pharma USA Corporation was established in Los Angeles in 2012, and a UK office is also maintained. A natural nutrition food division was set up in 2018, the same year the company obtained a Chinese food grade choline chloride production licence.
