Qingdao Scitech Biotech Co., Ltd. was founded in 1998 and produces natural plant extracts. Its site is in the industrial park of Tieshan Subdistrict in the West Coast New Area of Qingdao, Shandong Province, about 30 kilometres from Qingdao Port and 50 kilometres from the international airport.

The business runs from cultivation through extraction to application. Its main lines are marigold-derived lutein and lutein esters, and paprika and capsicum products including paprika oleoresin, capsicum oleoresin, saponified paprika and water-soluble versions of both oleoresins. The company operates a granulation and pre-processing plant in Inner Mongolia and an extraction plant in Qingdao, and states an annual production scale of 1,200 tonnes of lutein and 800 tonnes of paprika red. Feed grade liquid paprika red and natural lutein are supplied alongside the food grades.

Scitech is one of the drafting units for the Chinese national standards covering paprika red, lutein, capsicum oleoresin and radish red. It holds ISO 9001 and ISO 22000 certification along with EU FAMI-QS, Kosher and Halal certificates, and is recognised as a high-tech enterprise, a Shandong innovative enterprise and a Qingdao specialised and sophisticated enterprise. Its laboratory is equipped with gas and liquid chromatography, spectrophotometry and a microbiology room. The company holds its own import and export licence and sells to more than twenty countries.
