Shandong Starlight So True Biological Technology was established in October 2016 and operates north of Tingjin East Road in the economic and technological development zone at Laoling, part of Dezhou in Shandong. It sits within the Starlight Sugar Group, which processes 1.5 million tonnes of cane sugar and 1.2 million tonnes of corn a year, holds two million tonnes of raw material storage and runs the largest combined power, heat and steam plant in the area. So True draws its feedstock, storage and logistics from that base.

Output is prebiotics and dietary fibres. The range covers fructo-oligosaccharides, galacto-oligosaccharides, resistant dextrin, allulose, isomalto-oligosaccharides, isomaltulose, polydextrose and crystalline fructose, along with compounded sugar blends made to customer formulations. The company offers raw material design, formulation and technical service as a single package, and reports working relationships with more than 100 dairy, functional food and pharmaceutical companies.

Research platforms include a provincial enterprise technology centre, a Dezhou key laboratory, an engineering technology centre for functional factor stabilisation and a microbial polysaccharide engineering laboratory. Professors from the State Key Laboratory of Food Science and Technology at Jiangnan University act as technical advisers, and the company has worked with Shandong University, Dalian Polytechnic University and the China National Research Institute of Food and Fermentation Industries.
