Yunnan Borui Bio-tech. Co., Ltd.

Yunnan Borui Bio-tech Co., Ltd. was established in 2020 as the successor to Yunnan Ruibao Biotechnology Co., Ltd., which was founded in 1997. An asset restructuring transferred Ruibao's production and operating business to the new company. Borui is a subsidiary of Yunnan Bohao Biotechnology Group, which in turn sits under the state-owned Yunnan Industrial Investment Holding Group.

The company was among the earliest in China to extract natural colours, natural flavours, functional food ingredients and natural feed additives from plant raw material, and it combines research, contract growing, production and sales. The three main product series are marigold extract, capsicum extract and water-soluble colours, the last covering beetroot red, safflower yellow, purple sweet potato red and red cabbage colour. More than 70 percent of output is exported. The company states that its marigold products, together with those of its parent, rank near the top of the global market by share, and that its capsicum and water-soluble colour products rank among the highest in China by market share.

Production moved from the former Xiaobanqiao site in Kunming to the current plant at 6 Tianchuang Road, Yanglin Industrial Park, Songming county, Kunming, Yunnan province. Marigold raw material is grown on contract, including in Qiubei county in Wenshan prefecture, where the flowers are harvested and processed into pigment.
