Zhejiang Tianyi Food Additives Co., Ltd.

Zhejiang Tianyi Food Additives Co., Ltd. was established in March 1995 and makes gluconates at Wuzhen Industrial Park in Tongxiang, Zhejiang, about 1.5 kilometres from the Wuzhen water town. The site covers 52,380 square metres and represents total investment of 120 million yuan.

The gluconate range covers sodium, calcium, potassium, zinc, magnesium, ferrous, copper and manganese salts, together with glucono-delta-lactone and gluconic acid solution. A second line produces whole sucrose syrups and mixed syrups, including rock sugar syrup, L-arabinose sucrose and flavoured syrups. Annual output is more than 40,000 tonnes and products are exported to a number of markets.

Production starts from oral grade glucose using processes the company developed in house, giving material with low sulphate and chloride content. Pharmaceutical grades are made to United States, British and Chinese Pharmacopoeia standards. The plant has two workshops built to GMP design and three food grade fine chemical workshops. The National Development and Reform Commission's public nutrition and development centre designated the company as the research and production base for the gluconate series under the national public nutrition improvement project.
