Manganese Gluconate

Manganese Gluconate is the manganese(II) salt of gluconic acid, with CAS number 6485-39-8 and the empirical formula Mn(C₆H₁₁O₇)₂.

The compound supplies the trace mineral manganese in a soluble, organic-acid form that is well tolerated in oral supplements. It is among the preferred manganese sources for human nutrition, where the daily requirement is measured in milligrams rather than grams.

We source bulk Manganese Gluconate from top China manufacturers for our partners, working with several of them. The manufacturers are in Liaoning, Shandong and Zhejiang. A smaller requirement can ship in a combined container with other ingredients.

Please send the grade you need, the volume and your destination port, and we will come back with a solution and a price.

Common Markets Grades

Commercial supply is concentrated in the dihydrate form, with anhydrous material offered for moisture-sensitive applications.

The pharmaceutical and food-grade material carries approximately 12 percent elemental manganese and meets USP, Ph. Eur., and Food Chemicals Codex monograph limits. Colour is a pale pink to off-white, with a faint earthy aroma characteristic of manganese organic salts.

Fine micronized grades support hard-shell capsule and stick-pack filling. Direct-compression granulations serve tablet lines, where the gluconate carrier contributes good binding behaviour.

Solution-grade material is a 5 to 10 percent aqueous concentrate for liquid supplement and intravenous-nutrition applications. The intravenous grade meets stringent USP requirements for sterility, endotoxin content, and particulate matter.

Applications

  • Multivitamin and mineral supplements as the standard trace-manganese source
  • Prenatal and pediatric formulas where gentle tolerance is required
  • Bone-health stacks combining manganese with calcium, magnesium, zinc, and vitamin D₃
  • Joint-support formulas paired with glucosamine, chondroitin, and MSM
  • Intravenous parenteral-nutrition admixtures for hospital and clinical use
  • Mineral fortification of medical foods and clinical-nutrition products
  • Sports-nutrition powders covering the full trace-mineral profile
  • Veterinary supplements for companion animals and performance horses
  • Specialty animal-feed premixes where high-bioavailability manganese is targeted

How We Help Source Manganese Gluconate

  • Direct Factory Sourcing

We run the whole process: selecting the manufacturer from the top Chinese food ingredient producers, negotiating the price, verifying quality, and coordinating the logistics. You deal with us instead of with several factories at once.

  • Original Packaging and Documents from the Manufacturer

The manufacturer sends your Manganese Gluconate out of its own factory in the original packing, through to your destination port. The COA, COO, MSDS, TDS and any certifications reach you from the manufacturer as well.

  • Free Samples and Lead Time

We send 100 to 500 g free for your own laboratory to test and you cover only the courier, usually within 2 to 3 working days. ETD is usually within 7 to 15 days once the order is confirmed, and we check that date against the factory's own manufacturing schedule before we give it to you.

  • Combined Shipment

We can load Manganese Gluconate together with other ingredients such as Sodium Acetate, Calcium Citrate and Sodium Lactate into one 20' FCL. If your quantity is small, we can also ship LCL.

Regulatory Status

Manganese Gluconate is permitted as a manganese source in food supplements across the major regulated markets.

The European Union lists the compound in Annex II of Directive 2002/46/EC for general food supplements and in Annex II of Regulation (EU) No 609/2013 for food for specific groups. EFSA has confirmed safety at typical supplementation doses.

The United States Food and Drug Administration recognises the ingredient under 21 CFR 184.1452 as a GRAS substance, with use levels self-limited by the trace-element nature of manganese nutrition.

The United States Pharmacopeia and the European Pharmacopoeia both publish full identity, assay, and impurity monographs. Halal and Kosher certifications are routinely available.

Manufacturing Process

The standard manufacturing route is a straightforward acid-base neutralisation in aqueous solution.

Manganese carbonate or freshly precipitated manganese hydroxide is added to a food-grade gluconic acid solution at a controlled two-to-one gluconate-to-manganese molar ratio. The reaction proceeds with gentle warming, releasing carbon dioxide or water depending on the manganese source.

The clear pale-pink solution is filtered to remove any unreacted solids, then concentrated by vacuum evaporation. Crystallisation is induced by cooling, with the dihydrate forming as the favored phase under controlled conditions.

The crystals are centrifuged, washed with cold ethanol-water to remove residual gluconic acid, and dried in vacuum or fluid-bed dryers at moderate temperature. Drying is carefully controlled to preserve the dihydrate, since excessive heat strips water of crystallisation and yields a less stable anhydrous form.

Quality control covers manganese assay by EDTA titration or atomic absorption, gluconate by HPLC, residual heavy metals, and microbiological purity. Producers include Jungbunzlauer in Austria, several French and Italian organic-acid specialists, and Chinese gluconate manufacturers.
