Dextrose Anhydrous

Dextrose Anhydrous is the water-free crystalline form of D-glucose, dried below 0.5 percent residual moisture.

The crystal lattice contains no water of crystallisation, which gives a denser, more stable powder than the monohydrate form and suits applications where any free water would cause caking, hydrolysis of co-formulated actives, or volume errors in dosing.

It is the default glucose form for parenteral nutrition, injectable solutions, and direct-compression pharmaceutical tablets.

We source bulk Dextrose Anhydrous from top China manufacturers for our partners. The manufacturers are in Hebei and Shandong. For this ingredient the minimum order is 5,000 kg and a 20-foot container takes 24 MT, and a smaller requirement can ship in a combined container with other ingredients.

Please send the grade you need, the volume and your destination port, and we will come back with a solution and a price.

Common Markets Grades

Dextrose Anhydrous is graded by purity, particle size, and intended channel.

Pharmaceutical USP and Ph. Eur. grade meets monograph limits for assay, specific rotation, heavy metals, and pyrogens. It is the standard grade for IV solutions.

Injectable-grade variants undergo additional endotoxin testing and are released to apyrogenic specifications.

Food and beverage grade meets the general dextrose food standards and is used where moisture exclusion matters.

Direct-compression grade is made of agglomerated free-flowing particles with controlled tap density for tableting.

Applications

  • Intravenous nutrition solutions (5 percent, 10 percent, 50 percent dextrose injection)
  • Oral rehydration salt blends where the formula moisture must be controlled
  • Direct-compression tablet diluent and binder in pharmaceutical solid dosage
  • Diagnostic and reference solutions for blood glucose testing
  • Effervescent tablets where reaction with moisture must be prevented before use
  • Dry-mix beverage powders and sports drink stick packs
  • Sugar-coated panned confectionery and chewing gum centres
  • Carrier for moisture-sensitive flavours and high-intensity sweeteners
  • Fermentation media for high-purity biopharmaceutical processes
  • Diabetes management glucose tablets and hypoglycemia rescue products
  • Calibration material in analytical chemistry and clinical labs

How We Help Source Dextrose Anhydrous

  • Direct Factory Sourcing

We run the whole process: selecting the manufacturer from the top Chinese food ingredient producers, negotiating the price, verifying quality, and coordinating the logistics. You deal with us instead of with several factories at once.

  • Original Packaging and Documents from the Manufacturer

The manufacturer sends your Dextrose Anhydrous out of its own factory in the original packing, through to your destination port. The COA, COO, MSDS, TDS and any certifications reach you from the manufacturer as well.

  • Free Samples and Lead Time

We send 100 to 500 g free for your own laboratory to test and you cover only the courier, usually within 2 to 3 working days. ETD is usually within 7 to 15 days once the order is confirmed, and we check that date against the factory's own manufacturing schedule before we give it to you.

  • Combined Shipment

We can load Dextrose Anhydrous together with other ingredients such as Fructooligosaccharides, Dextrose and Dextrose Monohydrate into one 20' FCL. If your quantity is small, we can also ship LCL.

Regulatory Status

Dextrose Anhydrous appears as a primary monograph in the USP-NF, European Pharmacopoeia, Japanese Pharmacopoeia, and Chinese Pharmacopoeia.

The FDA covers it under GRAS for food use and under the relevant pharmaceutical regulations for injectable and oral drug use.

Excipient certification under IPEC GMP is standard for pharmaceutical-grade suppliers.

Kosher and Halal certifications are routinely held. Non-GMO certification is available where the corn or wheat source is identity-preserved.

Manufacturing Process

Dextrose Anhydrous is crystallised from a purified high-DE glucose syrup at temperatures above 50 degrees Celsius.

Above this transition temperature the alpha-D-glucose monohydrate crystal becomes thermodynamically unfavorable, and the anhydrous crystal forms instead.

The syrup is supersaturated, seeded with anhydrous crystal, and held under controlled cooling and agitation in a continuous or batch crystalliser.

The crystal slurry is centrifuged, washed with hot water, and dried in a fluid-bed or rotary dryer to below 0.5 percent moisture.

Pharmaceutical grades are further depyrogenated by additional water washing or recrystallisation and are released under apyrogenic packaging.
