Vitamin D3 Resin
Vitamin D3 Resin is the crude cholecalciferol concentrate that comes off the UV irradiation and molecular-distillation stages of D3 manufacture, typically standing at roughly 30 million IU per gram before any further dilution or formulation.
It is a viscous, amber to deep-yellow material handled as a strategic intermediate. Resin lots are the starting point from which downstream finishers cut beadlets, oil concentrates, crystal, and dry powders to their respective spec sheets.
We source bulk Vitamin D3 Resin from top China manufacturers for our partners, working with several of them. The manufacturers are in Zhejiang and Jiangxi. A smaller requirement can ship in a combined container with other ingredients.
Please send the grade you need, the volume and your destination port, and we will come back with a solution and a price.

Common Markets Grades
Resin is graded by total cholecalciferol IU per gram. The standard export range is 25 to 40 million IU per gram, with 30 million IU per gram being the most quoted reference.
The remaining mass is residual carrier oil, tocopherols, and the isomeric byproducts of the photochemical step (pre-vitamin D3, lumisterol, tachysterol, trans-vitamin D3). The isomer fingerprint and the residual-solvent profile are what differentiate one producer's resin from another.
Antioxidant load is high relative to finished forms because the resin will move through additional thermal and dissolution steps before reaching its end use. Packaging is amber glass or lined steel under nitrogen, with cold-chain handling end to end.
Applications
- Bulk feedstock for spray-cooled CWS beadlet manufacture at 100K to 500K IU per gram
- Bulk feedstock for oil-concentrate dilution into food, supplement, and feed grades
- Crystallisation feed for pharma-grade cholecalciferol crystal
- Spray-dried dry-D3 powder production on starch or gum carriers
- Starting material for synthesis of D3 metabolites including 25-hydroxy D3 (calcifediol)
- Custom potency dilutions for private-label finishers and contract formulators
- Veterinary injectable manufacture where the resin is solvent-exchanged into a sterile oil base
- Reference and pilot-scale material for new dosage-form development
- Vitamin AD3 combination concentrates where resin is co-diluted with retinyl ester
- Industrial export trade between upstream producers and regional finishers

How We Help Source Vitamin D3 Resin
Direct Factory Sourcing
We run the whole process: selecting the manufacturer from the top Chinese food ingredient producers, negotiating the price, verifying quality, and coordinating the logistics. You deal with us instead of with several factories at once.
Original Packaging and Documents from the Manufacturer
The manufacturer sends your Vitamin D3 Resin out of its own factory in the original packing, through to your destination port. The COA, COO, MSDS, TDS and any certifications reach you from the manufacturer as well.
Free Samples and Lead Time
We send 100 to 500 g free for your own laboratory to test and you cover only the courier, usually within 2 to 3 working days. ETD is usually within 7 to 15 days once the order is confirmed, and we check that date against the factory's own manufacturing schedule before we give it to you.
Combined Shipment
We can load Vitamin D3 Resin together with other ingredients such as Vitamin C, Vitamin D3 and Vitamin E into one 20' FCL. If your quantity is small, we can also ship LCL.
Regulatory Status
Resin is an intermediate rather than a finished food, supplement, or feed product. It moves under industrial trade documentation and is subject to the QC framework of the downstream facility that will finish it.
For producers operating to pharmaceutical specifications, the resin step is governed by ICH Q7 GMP for active pharmaceutical ingredients and is documented in the cholecalciferol Drug Master File or Certificate of Suitability. EDQM CEPs cover the full route from lanolin sterol to finished crystal.
TSE/BSE risk statements covering the lanolin source are standard, as are residual-solvent declarations against ICH Q3C limits. Heavy-metal data is generated per ICH Q3D where the resin will feed a pharma route.
Manufacturing Process
The starting material is 7-dehydrocholesterol recovered and purified from sheep-wool grease (lanolin) by saponification, sterol fractionation, and recrystallisation. The provitamin is dissolved in an inert solvent (commonly diethyl ether or t-butyl methyl ether) and irradiated with a controlled UVB wavelength near 295 nanometers.
The irradiation opens the B-ring of the steroid skeleton, generating pre-vitamin D3 along with the unavoidable side isomers lumisterol and tachysterol. The mixture is held at controlled temperature to drive thermal isomerisation of pre-vitamin D3 to cholecalciferol.
Solvent is stripped, and the crude is taken through one or more passes of molecular (short-path) distillation to concentrate cholecalciferol and remove the heavier sterol residues. The resulting resin is dissolved in deodorised vegetable oil to its label IU spec, stabilised with antioxidants, and packed under nitrogen for downstream shipment.
