Zhejiang NHU Co., Ltd. was formed in 1999 and listed on the Shenzhen Stock Exchange in 2004 under the code 002001. It researches, produces and sells functional chemicals, grouped into nutritional products, aroma chemicals, polymers and new materials, and active pharmaceutical ingredients. The nutrition portfolio covers vitamins, carotenoids, coenzyme Q10, biotin and amino acids such as taurine, supplied to food, supplement, personal care and animal nutrition customers in more than 100 countries.

The head office is at No. 418 Xinchang Dadao West Road, Qixing Street, Xinchang County, Zhejiang. The largest manufacturing hub is in Shandong, in the Binhai economic and technological development zone at Weifang, where separate NHU companies cover pharmaceuticals, amino acids, vitamins, fine chemicals and site power. A second base at Suihua in Heilongjiang serves as the group's biofermentation centre, using local corn to make coenzyme Q10, vitamin C, vitamin B12, calcium pantothenate, serine and starch sugars, with research work on enzyme engineering and cell factory design.

Sales and distribution in Europe run through NHU Europe GmbH at Bardowick in Germany. The company is ranked among China's hundred largest fine chemical producers.
