Dalian Zhen-Ao Bio-Tech Co., Ltd. is part of the Zhen-Ao group in Dalian, Liaoning Province. The parent company, originally Dalian Zhen-Ao Bioengineering Co., Ltd., was founded in 1996 and holds national high-technology enterprise status. The business has worked on nucleic acids and nucleotides since then.

Production uses fermentation and extraction from eukaryotic cells to recover ribonucleic acid, small-molecule nucleic acids, yeast extracts with high and low nucleotide content, and yeast peptides. The company separates individual 5'-nucleotides from this stream, including cytidine, adenosine, uridine, guanosine and inosine monophosphates. Other lines cover yeast protein, yeast beta-glucan and selenium-enriched yeast.

Design capacity for RNA is 1,800 tonnes a year, and the company reports holding about 70 percent of the world market for the material. Its RNA is described as the only such product certified under the GMA-SAFE supplier audit scheme run by the United States Grocery Manufacturers Association. Output is sold as food ingredients, nutritional fortifiers and feed additives, with infant formula a main end use.
