American Ginseng Extract is a concentrated preparation of the dried root of Panax quinquefolius, a perennial herb native to the hardwood forests of the eastern United States and southeastern Canada.
The extract is valued for its ginsenoside profile, which is dominated by Re and Rb1 with comparatively low Rg1. In traditional Chinese medicine this composition is regarded as cooler and more yin-tonifying than the warming Asian species.

Manufacturing Process
Roots are harvested after four to six years of cultivation, when ginsenoside accumulation peaks. Most commercial American ginseng comes from Marathon County, Wisconsin, with a smaller volume from Ontario.
Washed roots are air-dried at low temperature to preserve the heat-sensitive ginsenosides. The dried root is milled and extracted with ethanol-water mixtures, typically 50 to 70 percent ethanol, at controlled temperature.
The crude extract is filtered, concentrated under vacuum, and either spray-dried directly or passed through macroporous resin columns to enrich the ginsenoside fraction before drying.
Polysaccharide grades follow a parallel route using hot-water extraction, alcohol precipitation, and ultrafiltration to remove low molecular weight sugars.
Wisconsin growers operate under shade-cloth structures that mimic the forest canopy, with crop rotations of fifteen years or longer to manage soil-borne disease.
