Inositol
Inositol is a cyclohexane hexol, a six-carbon sugar alcohol with six hydroxyl groups arranged around a saturated ring.
The commercially dominant stereoisomer is myo-inositol. The CAS number for myo-inositol is 87-89-8 and the molecular formula is C₆H₁₂O₆ with a molar mass of 180.16 g/mol.
The white crystalline powder is mildly sweet, freely water-soluble, and serves both as a nutritional supplement and as a building block for phosphoinositide signaling molecules in living cells.
We source bulk Inositol from top China manufacturers for our partners, working with several of them. The manufacturers are in Jiangsu, Shandong and Hebei. For this ingredient the minimum order is 500 kg and a 20-foot container takes 11 MT, and a smaller requirement can ship in a combined container with other ingredients.
Please send the grade you need, the volume and your destination port, and we will come back with a solution and a price.

Common Markets Grades
Four grades of inositol trade: pharmaceutical, food, feed, and reagent.
Pharmaceutical and supplement grade meets USP and Ph. Eur. monographs for myo-inositol and is the standard form for capsules, tablets, and powder sticks.
Food grade meets FCC specifications and is used in infant formula, energy drinks, and functional beverages.
Feed grade ships in bulk for aquaculture and poultry premixes.
Other inositol stereoisomers (D-chiro-inositol and scyllo-inositol) are produced at smaller scale for specialized supplements, notably PCOS management blends combining myo- and D-chiro-inositol in defined ratios.
Applications
- Standalone dietary supplement for mood, sleep, and PCOS support
- Component of B-complex vitamin formulations
- Nutrient in infant and follow-on milk formulas
- Energy drink and pre-workout cofactor
- Cosmetic active for hair and scalp formulations
- Lipotropic compound in liver-support supplements
- Carrier in nootropic and cognitive supplement stacks
- Aquaculture feed nutrient for shrimp and finfish
- Poultry premix nutrient for growth and feathering
- Cell culture media component in biopharmaceutical fermentation
- Reference compound in carbohydrate biochemistry research

How We Help Source Inositol
Direct Factory Sourcing
We run the whole process: selecting the manufacturer from the top Chinese food ingredient producers, negotiating the price, verifying quality, and coordinating the logistics. You deal with us instead of with several factories at once.
Original Packaging and Documents from the Manufacturer
The manufacturer sends your Inositol out of its own factory in the original packing, through to your destination port. The COA, COO, MSDS, TDS and any certifications reach you from the manufacturer as well.
Free Samples and Lead Time
We send 100 to 500 g free for your own laboratory to test and you cover only the courier, usually within 2 to 3 working days. ETD is usually within 7 to 15 days once the order is confirmed, and we check that date against the factory's own manufacturing schedule before we give it to you.
Combined Shipment
We can load Inositol together with other ingredients such as Fructooligosaccharides, Dextrose and Dextrose Monohydrate into one 20' FCL. If your quantity is small, we can also ship LCL.
Regulatory Status
Inositol is recognised as a food ingredient and dietary supplement nutrient in essentially every regulated market.
The U.S. FDA covers it under GRAS for use in infant formula and as a dietary supplement nutrient.
EFSA has reviewed inositol for infant nutrition and accepted its use at relevant levels.
The USP-NF and European Pharmacopoeia include monographs for inositol.
Manufacturing Process
Industrial inositol is produced from rice bran or corn steep liquor by extraction of phytic acid followed by hydrolysis.
Phytic acid (myo-inositol hexakisphosphate) is concentrated from the steep liquor or bran extract, then hydrolysed under high temperature and pressure with mineral acid or by phytase enzyme to release free myo-inositol and inorganic phosphate.
The hydrolysate is neutralised, decolorised with activated carbon, demineralized by ion exchange, and concentrated.
Myo-inositol is crystallised from the concentrated solution, separated by centrifugation, washed, and dried.
A newer fermentation route using engineered Bacillus subtilis on glucose feedstock has reached commercial scale at several Chinese producers.
