Manufacturing Process
Retinyl palmitate concentrate is pre-blended with the tocopherol antioxidant package, then emulsified into a hot aqueous solution of sucrose and modified food starch. The emulsion is fed into a co-current spray dryer where atomised droplets meet a hot inlet air stream.
Rapid evaporation drives the droplets through a brief plastic phase before they solidify into discrete particles. The dried powder is collected in a cyclone and bag filter system, screened to remove fines and oversize, and surface-treated with starch or silicon dioxide to prevent caking.
The sucrose-rich matrix is the standard of the global vitamin A fortification market. It is cheap, well understood, and compatible with virtually every dry-blending operation in food manufacturing.
