Ginger Whole Active Extract
Ginger Whole Active Extract is a full-spectrum extract of Zingiber officinale rhizome that preserves both the volatile aromatic compounds and the non-volatile pungent principles in balanced ratio.
The product is positioned between a simple oleoresin and a standardised gingerol concentrate. It is engineered to mirror the native chemistry of the fresh rhizome as closely as possible while delivering the dose density and shelf life of a manufactured extract.
We source bulk Ginger Whole Active Extract from top China manufacturers for our partners. The manufacturer is in Hunan. A smaller requirement can ship in a combined container with other ingredients.
Please send the grade you need, the volume and your destination port, and we will come back with a solution and a price.

Common Markets Grades
The whole-active extract is graded by the combined ratio of volatile oil to non-volatile actives.
The reference grade carries 4 to 6 percent volatile oil with 5 to 8 percent total gingerols and shogaols on a dry basis. This profile matches the chemistry of dried ginger rhizome scaled up by roughly fivefold concentration.
Premium grades push both fractions higher and are positioned for capsule and softgel formulators who want a single ingredient covering aroma, taste, and active dose.
Liquid and powder formats are both available. Liquid grades are clarified to remove insoluble fibre and sold as a viscous concentrate. Powder grades are spray-dried onto maltodextrin, gum acacia, or modified starch carriers for dry-blend compatibility.
Specifications include volatile-oil content by steam distillation, total gingerol and shogaol assay by HPLC, residual solvents, heavy metals, and full microbiological panel.

How We Help Source Ginger Whole Active Extract
Direct Factory Sourcing
We run the whole process: selecting the manufacturer from the top Chinese food ingredient producers, negotiating the price, verifying quality, and coordinating the logistics. You deal with us instead of with several factories at once.
Original Packaging and Documents from the Manufacturer
The manufacturer sends your Ginger Whole Active Extract out of its own factory in the original packing, through to your destination port. The COA, COO, MSDS, TDS and any certifications reach you from the manufacturer as well.
Free Samples and Lead Time
We send 100 to 500 g free for your own laboratory to test and you cover only the courier, usually within 2 to 3 working days. ETD is usually within 7 to 15 days once the order is confirmed, and we check that date against the factory's own manufacturing schedule before we give it to you.
Combined Shipment
We can load Ginger Whole Active Extract together with other ingredients such as Astaxanthin, Dehydrated Garlic and Lutein into one 20' FCL. If your quantity is small, we can also ship LCL.
Regulatory Status
The whole-active extract is regulated as a botanical extract under the same frameworks as ginger root extract and ginger oleoresin.
The U.S. FDA recognises ginger and its extracts as GRAS under 21 CFR 182.20 when used as natural flavourings. Use as a dietary ingredient falls under DSHEA structure-function provisions.
The European Union covers the extract under flavouring regulation 1334/2008 when used for flavour purposes, and under the traditional herbal medicinal product registration scheme when sold for therapeutic use. The European Medicines Agency community herbal monograph for Zingiberis rhizoma is the reference document.
Pharmacopoeial standards include the European Pharmacopoeia ginger and ginger extract monographs, and the United States Pharmacopeia powdered ginger extract monograph. Kosher, Halal, and organic certifications are routinely offered.
Manufacturing Process
The starting raw material is carefully selected dried ginger rhizome, typically blended from origins to balance pungency and volatile-oil content. Indian Cochin lots contribute aroma, Nigerian lots contribute heat, and Chinese lots provide bulk consistency.
The process runs in two parallel streams. The aromatic stream uses gentle steam distillation or supercritical CO2 to recover the volatile oil intact, with minimal heat degradation. The pungent stream uses hydroalcoholic extraction to capture the gingerol and shogaol pool along with the broader hydrophilic phytochemistry.
The two streams are blended back together at a defined ratio that mimics the native rhizome chemistry but at higher concentration. This reblending is the differentiating step from simple oleoresin production, where both fractions are co-extracted in a single solvent pass and the ratios are whatever the solvent happens to deliver.
Powder grades go through spray drying onto a food-grade carrier. The carrier choice affects flowability, dispersion, and label profile. Maltodextrin gives best flow at low cost; gum acacia gives best dispersion for beverage use; modified starch gives the highest oil load.
Each lot is assayed for both volatile oil and gingerol/shogaol content against label spec before release.
