Guangzhou Honsea Sunshine Biotech Co., Ltd. has produced plant-derived functional ingredients since 2001. It is based at No. 20 Guanda Road in the Huangpu district of Guangzhou.

The company works with supercritical carbon dioxide extraction alongside water and ethanol extraction, and has combined these with high-speed countercurrent extraction, column and membrane separation, molecular distillation and spray drying. Output is grouped into plant extract powders, nutritional and health oils, aroma essential oils and formulated blends. Named products include bakuchiol at 99 per cent purity, sold as Bacuchi and registered as a new cosmetic ingredient in China, ligusticum rhizome oil, jasmine essential oil, pomegranate seed oil with a punicic acid content of at least 70 per cent, magnolia bark extract and a sea buckthorn range certified organic to European Union and USDA standards. Materials are sold into functional foods, dietary supplements, cosmetics, fragrance and pet nutrition.

The supply chain runs from GAP-certified farms through in-house laboratories equipped with GC-MS/MS, HPLC-MS/MS and ICP-MS. Certifications listed include ISO 9001, ISO 22000, NSF, kosher and halal, with EU organic certification obtained in 2008. The company holds more than ten national invention patents, has been a Guangdong high-tech enterprise since 2008, and is recognised as a Guangdong specialised and innovative small and medium enterprise and as a Guangzhou enterprise research institution. Its rosemary extract and jasmine essential oil have won technology innovation awards, and its wampee extract received a Ringier technology innovation award.
